It feels like Fall: getting cross bikes ready, gluing tubies (with no tape you bitches!), closing windows at night so we don’t freeze in the morning, chopping and stacking wood and reading ski mags dreaming of new gear and pow. This is perhaps my favorite time of year. It was cold enough last night that we had cold feet when we climbed into bed. I love that. I have a big pile of wood going in the back yard, some cut, some split. Cutting and splitting wood by hand is very satisfying. Sometimes I wish "sustaining" was my only job. Not sure I would make it, but it would be cool to try.

Yeah, it's been feeling like that here for a while, too. It's almost like August has lost its 'summer' status and is now officially the start of fall.

Oh, and fuck you and your 'new gear and pow'. You may as well begin getting used to the idea that parents get to enjoy neither.

amen for 'cross and cool fall days. and for chopping wood, although the only chopping here in the DOT is done by cars, to bikers.
