Is It Time Yet?

Man I am ready to ride. I have a few more days left on my break and then it is back to training. I will have taken 4 weeks completely off the bike. Motivation for next season is off the charts right now. I guess that is the point of a break. I have a new team (Independent Fabrication/The Channel Café/Adidas. . .official name TBD) with new teammates and a crazy new schedule. I wish it was warm and we could be training outside right now! (Weather update: high of 33 degrees today with freezing rain)

I am going to start building my winter training bike (my dented Cannondale CADD 7) this weekend just in case the weather cooperates. Realistically, I will be on the trainer riding my fixed gear and road bike for many hours over the next few months. Hopefully I can get to a warm climate for at least a 10 day block of training in late February or early March. Maybe Solar will still think I am cool and let me come to Silver City with him. After my pitiful showing at the Bermuda GP, I may be relegated to washing bikes and fetching water bottles. At least I can work on my tan.

FYI: 37 days without a shave

I just ate my 4th chocolate covered Macaroon, is that bad?

Looks like NE Home Girl making the move to the big leagues, congrats:

I added a new link. I stumbled upon this dudes blog last week. Turns out he thought I was Kraus. I guess he's on to me now though. For the record, Kraus has way more style than me. Not to mention, I am pretty sure he can write in complete, properly punctuated sentences too, but thanks.

Back

So I have been getting some grief for my lack of updates. What can I say? Nationals came and went. I had a great weekend although “great” would not describe my race. Whatever. Moving on. Looking forward to the road season, looking forward to a new bike, looking forward to spring. (For the record, I realize that quite often, like the previous “sentence”, I write in fragments and not sentences. Whatever, it’s my blog. Deal with it.)

So winter is here. It is dumping out today and we expect to get almost a foot. That is sweet justice. If all goes well, I will be making tele turns this afternoon at the resort. This weekend brings a long list of Xmas related things to do, but all will take a backseat to fresh snow. I hope to post some photos from the next couple of days in the pow.

As far as fitness, I am getting back on track. I did a 7 mile (run) death march with my uber-endurance freak friend Charles. It was a walk in the park for him. Death march for me. I skate skied for the first time this season last night. We went EASY. CREEP (per TH) style. It was good to get out there and work on technique and enjoy the full moon. We barely need the headlamps. You got to love that. The snow was pretty variable, but with another 6-12 today, the track should be sweet.

What else . . .no bike riding for me for at least a month. Break. Hopefully I will be fresh when I return. I am hoping to significantly increase my volume this spring. There are some pretty crazy races on the list for this coming season. Hopefully I will be able to hang with the boys. Time will tell.

That’s all for now. Do your snow dance.

Nationals

Nationals are 3 days away and I haven't ridden my bike since Sterling. Is that bad? Ha Ha Ha. I have been running a few days a week and currently have 6 days of skiing this season. I am going to attempt to ride the trainer tonight and "open them up". Regardless of my form, we are heading south on Thursday and getting ready to enjoy the last 3 days of racing this year. I am not sure how many races I am doing this weekend. I am going to see how it goes on Friday and make a decision after that. I am stoked to see the sights at nationals. It should be crazy.

So here are some of my predictions:

Elite Men: Page, Johnson, Trebon, in that order. Kraus, top 20. Wilson, in the beer tent.
Elite Women: Mo, Simms, Some Vello Bello biatch. Wellons, Top 12.
B Men: Stanimal, Top 5.
Collegiate Men: Tommy G, Top 10.

There you have it. Call your Bookie.
